A washer is a flat, ring-shaped component that is usually used in conjunction with fasteners such as bolts, screws, and nuts. In various mechanical connections and assemblies, it can not only enhance the stability of the connection but also protect the surfaces of the connected parts and extend their service life.
1) Flat Washers
The most common type of washer, with a simple shape, is a flat, circular thin piece. It can increase the contact area between bolts or nuts and the connected surfaces, avoiding damage to the component surfaces caused by concentrated pressure. It is widely used in various general mechanical connection scenarios.
2) Spring Washers
They are shaped like springs and have a certain degree of elasticity. After tightening the nut, the spring washer will use its own elasticity to generate a continuous reaction force to firmly press against the nut. Thus, even in the face of vibrations and impacts during the operation of the equipment, it can better prevent the nut from loosening. They are often used in occasions where high connection stability is required and there are certain dynamic loads.
3) Rubber Washers
Mainly made of rubber materials, they have good elasticity and sealing properties. Besides playing a role in distributing pressure and preventing loosening, they are more commonly used in connection parts that require sealing, where they can effectively prevent the leakage of liquids or gases and ensure the sealing performance of the system.
1. Carbon Steel Washers
With iron and carbon as the main components, they have a relatively low cost, moderate strength, and a relatively simple processing technology.
2. Stainless Steel Washers
Due to containing alloy elements such as chromium and nickel, they have excellent corrosion resistance and can adapt to various harsh environments like humidity, acid-base, etc. Meanwhile, their strength and aesthetic appearance are also quite good.
3. Copper Washers
They are relatively soft in texture and have good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and corrosion resistance.
Washer Types | Specification Parameters |
Flat Washers | Inner Diameter: Determined according to the diameter of the matching bolt or screw, with various specifications from M2 to M50. Outer Diameter: The common size range is 5mm - 100mm, with different outer diameters corresponding to different specifications. Thickness: Ranging from 0.5mm to 5mm, which can be selected according to actual needs. |
Spring Washers | The inner and outer diameter specification ranges are similar to those of flat washers, and the thickness is usually between 1mm and 3mm. The elastic parameters of spring washers are designed and produced according to different standards and application requirements. |
Rubber Washers | The inner and outer diameters are customized according to the size of the matching parts, and the thickness is generally between 1mm and 10mm. The appropriate thickness can be selected according to the sealing and cushioning requirements. The physical properties such as hardness and tensile strength of rubber washers can also be adjusted according to different application scenarios. |
