What is Duplex Stainless Steel?
Duplex stainless steel refers to stainless steel in which ferrite and austenite each constitute approximatelyhalf of the microstructure, hence the name "duplex/double-sided".
lt combines the toughness and weldability of austenitic stainless steel with the high strength and stress cor-rosion resistance of ferritic stainless steel. lts strength is typically about twice that of ordinary 304 and 316stainless steel, and it also exhibits stronger resistance to chloride ions and seawater corrosion.
